If you really want surround sound please dont go cheap!! You get what you paid for. I actually bought 3 of these and regret it everyday I turn it on. The speakers are small and bulky looking, cant mount it anywhere without it sticking out like a sore thumb. Sound quality is mediocre at best. A surround bar would give about the same performance without making the room look like crap.

Solid System for the money. It allows for all types of connections: HDMI, Component, or basic RCA jack type connectors. Really good sound and has a nice feature that helps you set the proper spacing for speaker placement. Very happy with the purchase.

Simply put — I love this hts! It was easy to setup and works great! I didn’t want the standard home theater in a box as they are typically not scalable. The receiver allowed me to connect a PS3, Xbox 360, and HD Satellite receiver all via HDMI. I will most likely use the DVD player that came with it on another television as I generally use the PS3 for Blu-Ray and DVDs. Overall I think it was a great price for all you get, especially from Sony. Video and sound quality work perfectly for the size and layout of our family room.

The audiophiles say that this is a good choice for an “entry level” home theater system. It’s my first home theater and I can’t imagine it sounding much better. Music, whether FM, CD or from a movie, sounds great. The surround sound with the ground shaking subwoofer is awesome while watching movies. Easy set-up, I paired with a Samsung PN50A650 plasma and Panasonic Blu Ray. A/V receiver works great as a “switcher” since I utilized the many HDMI inputs in the back to plug in the various components. Best deal out there with 5.1 surround, 900w, 4 HDMI in and 1 out. Buy it, you’ll like it!

The reviews above are accurate as it relates to the reciever. I was very happy with it and the fact that is has 1080p, lots of inputs/outputs and syncs with my Sony Bravia television. The speakers and sub are not so good and I would rate them poor. I know you are getting a lot in one box for the price but if I was going to do it again I would buy pieces vs. the big box. I have a set of Polk speakers and sub upstairs and they sound much better. I moved them downstairs and don’t use the Sony speakers.
