Samsung HT-BD2S Blu-ray Home Theater System

I bought two TVs 52″ & 46″ one series 7 and serires 6 repectively and a blue ray player all Samsung brand I thought I will not make a mistake buying the Home Theater System from Samsung boy! I was WRONG it is a disaster to my fine tuned ears my TV speakers perform better than the system. I am requesting to return it. I gave one star because of its ease to setup. They are cosmetically nice looking speakers but poor performing. It did not come with batteries for the remote eventhough it is itemised in the list of enclosures. For the price it is not worth.

This rating is not for the product but for the false advertising by Amazon, which is becoming a very common practice. As of today, April 24th, when a person logs on to the site, there is an advertisement for this product in the right hand upper corner that clearly says OVER 50% SAVINGS on this product and the regular price of $ 999. When you click on the product….what does it say…..PRICE $ 999. How much is the savings……………..ZERO. Way to go Amazon.

Great price and very impressed with the appearance and ease of set up. Problem is the system I received won’t play blue rays. I contacted Samsung’s support unit and after having me run several tests including resetting the system several times and trying different blue ray disks the tech provided me a ticket number and advised that I needed to ship it to an address in NJ “at my own expense” for warranty repairs. Upon receiving their email directing me where to send the unit for repairs I learned that based upon the serial number of my unit, the 1 year warranty was only valid until 8/31/2009, I received it from Amazon at the end of 03/2009. To say the least I’m not a happy camper with the additional shipping expense to get it repaired the shortened warranty period and inconvenience. The system does look great though.

Having studied several home theater systems “in a box”, we settled on this one to join our Samsung 50″ plasma. It’s lived up to its positive reviews, creates an awesome theater experience and is an excellent value. A couple caveats. Set up as suggested–especially keeping the front right and left speakers in line with the center channel. We initially didn’t, and the slight delay between the fronts and center yielded an easily discernible out-of-synch sound effect. Also resist the temptation to turn up the subwoofer too loudly. When you get it right you’ll have the deep bass you need and you won’t be able to identify the location of the sub. If you have a Samsung TV you can use the Blu-ray remote for the TV. Kick back and enjoy!

It was a great system when I bought it. I loved the great sound it put out. But all of a sudden it stoped reading all DVD’s It would tell me ” No Disc”. Now I did call Samsung and customer service at Sunsung is Number 1. But after it was sent back to them and fixed a couple months later it happened again it stop reading all DVD. I did give this 5 stars for sound. But it has problems.
