I was very disappointed to find out that the center speaker’s left outlet hole (the speaker has two holes)does not actually work!! I called LG and they told me that it’s the design of the system!!! The center speaker although has two holes but it has only one speaker which comes out of the right outlet hole. So the left one is just for looks and nothing else!!!
Why would LG design such a thing? Why not just leave it with one outlet hole or better yet place two speakers in the center speaker so both holes can generate sounds?!! I just do not understand such a design and to me it’s highly flawed.
All in all it’s not a bad home theater system if you’re expectation is not state of the art system!!

I purchased this on Feb 15, 2009. It worked great for a few months. It did have a problem with upconverting some DVDs. Screen would flash and drop out periodically. Decided to change default HDMI out video quality from auto to 480p. I haven’t been able to get any video on screen since then. I really need to do a factory reset but it won’t work and LG tech support is unable to help. I can get video if I use A/V cables. Computer that is hooked up to the same TV is still able to send video via HDMI so I know it’s not the TV. I wouldn’t recommend this.

I pressed one of the Progressive-scan options on this unit by accident. Once you do this, there is no way to ever get an image back unless you do not use HDMI, only component. Meaning you get a crappy 480 image that is worse than an x-box video play.
So I called customer service. Asked, how do you do a reset? There is no way. The guy was rude and lectured me that I should not have pressed a video mode if it was the wrong one. I pointed out that the manual says it only displays the options that will work. Anyway long story short, LG customer service is as crappy as this unit.
I will not be buying LG products again, as the low quality is rivaled only by the low quality support.
Do not buy this unit. It’s deceptively low price should be a warning, as in you get what you pay for.

This sound system is good for the money. Doesn’t go super loud, and the bass speaker is not powered, but that is the norm in this price range($225), up to even $300-$400. What I do like about it; that other systems in this price range do not have, is the USB port for pen drives- you can look at photos, listen to music and watch movies off of a USB drive, instead of having to burn a CD or DVD. The other thing this system has that the other systems I checked out did not have- I can turn my TV (plasma) off and on and change the input settings from this remote, instead of having to use the TV remote. This keeps me to 2 remotes instead of 3, as I still have to use the cable remote to change channels. I tried a Sony system before this that cost more and this performs better and does more for less. The Sony system’s center channel speaker did not work in surround sound setting (they claim this is normal) -however in matrix setting on this system I get all speakers working simultaneously. Plus I can hear the bass speaker better. The speaker volume can be adjusted individually(in set up), where on other systems this wasn’t possible. It also looks better than the Sony- the front has blue lighting that looks kinda cool. I would recommend this system.
