  1. I cannot tell why how many problems I have had with BOSE home theater systems. WIth a name like BOSE, I am shocked. The problem lies in the fact that they need to stick to speakers. They cannot handle the simple task of a CD/DVD player. The problems started when I bought a BOSE 3-2-1 unit a few years ago. I had multiple problems with DVDs freezing and they had to send me 3 different media centers. After they got sick of hearing us complaining, they “upgraded” me to the Lifestyles. For the first six months or so everything was fine. However, eventually this player started having the same freezing problem. After a software upgrade didn’t work, I just sent it back for ANOTHER media player for this unit. Needless to say, I am very displeased with BOSE and their customer service leaves a great deal to be desired. Its a shame because the sound is great. The DVD player is a complete nightmare.

  2. its so sad that people are still raving about their sound, have any of you listened to other equipment? maybe the name bose just makes it ok to make and sell junk from the 90s and 80s, other speaker manufactures have made leaps in bounds in music and movie sound reproduction in the past 20 years, bose is the same old bose, they sell the same mediocre stuff(at least its become cheaper) but they still cant get this stuff too work all the time, what are they doing if not upgrading the sound to where every other company?

people let your ears do the deciding not the name of the company.

  3. while the sound is what you’d expect from Bose, the positives end there. Set up was not as they described or advertised. The remote doesn’t recognize my Blue Ray player, and calling Bose AND Sony produced no solution. I wound up purchasing a Logitech remote- why spend 10k on a TV, Stereo, DVD and have multiple remotes.

Other hangups include the need for special attachments to the units (like TV, Cable) you’d like switched on and off via remote that took my installer extra time. Finally, please note that this “expandable” system requires a separate $250 amp for each new set of speakers, and the Bose cannot control you IPOD, which is just plugged into an Aux jack. My downstairs Onkyo+Klipsch system w DVD, ipod, Wii, cable and old VCR and Pioneer plasma was much easier to set up, and the Onkyo remote controls everything but the Wii.

  4. D. Cassidy on your review of your Bose system you are talking about the Lifestyle 28 not the V-20. Do you not know the difference???? The V-20 system does not have a DVD player with it. Get your reviews straight before you knock the V-20 system.

  5. THIS SYSTEM IS SIMPLY OUTSTANDING. I HAVE THE FOLLOWING HOOKED UP TO IT:A 50 INCH PLAZMA PANASONIC 1080P SET, A SONY BDP-S300 BLU-RAY PLAYER, A TOSHIBA HD-A30KC PLAYER AND THIS SET UP ALONG WITH THE BOSE SYSTEM IS JUST SIMPLY OUTSTANDING, I’LL NEVER GO TO A CROWDED MOVIE THEATRE EVER AGAIN.
